Dr. Leonel Reyes, Rey Feo LV, General Practicion

Dr. Leonel Reyes, Jr. M.D. was born on July 30, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. His undergraduate work was completed at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. After completing graduate work in Biology at Incarnate Word College he was accepted to the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, Texas. His residency training was completed at the University of Texas Family Practice Residency at McAllen, Texas. He returned to San Antonio where he opened his office for Family Practice in downtown San Antonio where he continues caring for his patients as a solo practitioner. Dr. Reyes is also actively involved with several clinical research studies related to diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. In addition to his practice of medicine Dr. Reyes has donated a great deal of his time in local organizations and professional associations.

Besides serving on numerous hospital committees, Dr. Reyes has been actively involved in the Hispanic Medical Society where he served as Secretary-Treasurer. Activities he was involved with at the Hispanic Medical Society were related to promoting the cultural aspects of the Hispanic culture involving music, art, and dance. He has also served as past president of the Mexican-American Physicians Association of South Texas. During his term as president of the Mexican American Physicians Association (MAPA), Dr. Reyes was involved as a role model and source of support for minority students at all levels of education who were interested in health careers. Heading the efforts of MAPA, several thousands of dollars of scholarship moneys were raised for deserving minority students interested in health careers. He has also been active in the San Fernando Health Fair and the Committee for All Children. Most recently, he was appointed to the Board of the Alameda Theater, which is involved with the restoration of the theater as well as the building of a museum in association with the Smithsonian Institution.

His personal interests revolve around history, archaeology, swimming and traveling. He enjoys reading and discovering about not only local history but also world wide archeological sites. He is an avid swimmer and enjoys traveling with his wife and three daughters.

Dr. Reyes alongside the King Antonio participate in the Blessing of the Reigns that is held at San Fernando Cathedral during Thanksgiving Weekend.
